Playing Dress up with a Playboy Model Laurena Lacey

We asked Gary Well II of Upstairs Boutique to dress up Laurena Lacey -the only Irish lady to be a US Playboy Cybergirl/Playmate. The 5’6″ model, who initially thought her height was a hindrance in her career, has gone on to win Ireland’s Miss Hawaiian Tropic in 2008. “I never really thought that it would be something I could do because of my height but I sort of put my pictures online after being spotted in London and sort of built my portfolio from that. It wasn’t as restrictive as I have been led to believe and also a lot of designers want someone to make their clothes look sexy or just something that someone wants to buy so you don’t necessarily have to have that six foot height.” Her height has never held her back – she has been on lingerie ads, TV commercials, various posters and calendar shoots ever since she was 16.

She offers a few tips for for models who don’t have the supermodel height. “Definitely the posing and make sure the photographer gets down really low, make sure you’re wearing nice heels and make sure you’re in proportion with your body and that should pull it off for you,” Laurena says.

Laurena does a lot of charity work when she is here in the US. “I enjoy doing the Celebrity Catwalk each year and it’s for Noah’s Arc Animal welfare and a shelter in Burbank.”

Aside from traveling for work and pleasure, Laurena is currently busy developing a video game.
