BrittiCares International Event

January 20th, 2010 3:37 PM - Categorized under Causes and Initiatives, Events-Videos-Interviews

We patrolled The Green Door/Cabana Club for the BrittiCares International (BCI) event, a 501 ( C ) ( 3 ) nonprofit organization committed to finding new and better ways to improve the quality of life for children who have been diagnosed with cancer. BCI promotes childhood cancer awareness, creates, exciting events, uplifting support, and family involvement.

The creation of BrittiCares International was inspired by a little girl named Brittiana Henderson who was first diagnosed with Osteogenic Sarcoma (bone cancer) and later developed leukemia where she fought courageously, without complaining, while assisting other children with cancer to defeat the pernicious disease. Although Brittiana’s battle against Leukemia came to an end, the efforts of BCI have not diminished. BCI wishes to raise funds and public awareness to combat this disease. With funds raised, BCI will continue to provide patients with ‘Imagine Me’ bedroom makeovers, ‘Pick a Parties’ (a celebration or party of choice), as well as offer families; social, emotional, and financial support. Annually, BCI along with actor comedian Chris Tucker, and KeKe Palmer, hosts the Brittiana Smile for Life 5k run/walk, evoking an atmosphere that displays new beginnings, fostering hope, tied to optimism which impacts people from all walks of life.

We spoke to these lovely ladies who have a soft spot for this cause.

We caught up with Brittany Curran who is a huge supporter of the foundation. “I donated blood three times now, you can donate money, you can donate time but to actually donate a piece of you is pretty amazing. One of the times I donated, I was actually talking to a girl who eventually was going to get my blood. In a little way life changing knowing that a little girl was actually getting the same blood that was running through my veins but the last time I went, I passed out.” I guess we can say Brittany really cares.

You can check out Brittany on her show ‘Men of Age’ with Ray Romano as it has been picked up for the second season and another Disney show very soon. For 2010, she says it’s dance, French, violin classes and college too. She wore Betsey Johnson accessories with her black Christian Weber dress, a line which is only sold in Europe according to the 19-year-old charmer.

Deja Kreutzberg who stars in the movie ‘Save a Life’ which will hit theaters on Friday January 22 also took her time out to lend her name to a wonderful cause. “This is the second event I’ve gone to for that and I try to give back as much as I possibly can. I do Habitat for Humanity and build the houses and we volunteered on soup kitchen on Thanksgiving. I know it has not really to do with cancer but I try to do whatever I can.”

The 27-year-old beauty wore a navy BCBG dress with black Aldo peep toes.

The 25-year-old star is so excited for 2010 as she has four movies coming out. Jillian Murray is busy promoting ‘Wild Things’, ‘Graves’, ‘Knuckledraggers’ and ‘Cougar Hunting’. But she did find some time to help awareness for Britticares. “I think it’s wonderful that we are finally raising awareness. It’s really important to get together on stuff like that.”
Jillian wore a black swing dress which she found in her closet, blue suede pumps she purchased from a Melrose boutique and a vintage clutch she got from Aspen.
